Update – 1.2.18: Looks like everyone is lawyering up and digging in for a prolonged battle; read more from the Detroit Free Press here and maybe put that moving truck on hold for now…

Sure, we’ve seen tear-downs and the on-your-lot thing in The Pointes, but a new neighborhood in Grosse Pointe Shores?  Not something we come across everyday.

Nonetheless, C & G Newspapers recently reported that Deeplands Development Company is trying to turn an 8-acre parcel on Deeplands Road (just a couple blocks from Lake St. Clair), into an 18-home subdivision. Details are limited about what the homes will look like, but at an estimated $1M to $1.5M price tag, we’ll go out on a limb and say “nice.” Potentially, “very nice.” Not surprisingly, neighbors are fighting the plans, and it seems they played a role in preventing a high-end condo development on the property from moving forward, so stay tuned…

Lou Bitove & Jeff Bortnick, owners of The New Home Experts®, have more than 30 years combined experience in real estate, much of that with builders like Pulte & Toll Brothers.  They also provide market research for area builders, developers and national firms.  If you’re considering a new home, remember: the builders rep represents the builder, not you.  Work with the only local agents in Metro Detroit to specialize in new homes, and save money in the process – ask us how!
