The City of Warren announced plans for a mixed use development near Warren City Hall and the GM Tech Center, that will feature a mix of residential and commercial, along with an “upscale” hotel. The $170M Warren Town Center will be located on the east side of Van Dyke Avenue (on the site of the former city hall), as well as several vacant parcels along the north side of Kennedy Circle. The project will fill in several gaps surrounding City Hall, giving the appearance of a downtown area – something the city has longed for going back to the 1960’s.
Components of the project include 500 market-rate apartments; a 200-room hotel; a 30,000 sqft full-service grocery store; retail shops, dining and a pub totaling 20,000 sqft; a pedestrian bridge over Van Dyke connecting City Hall and the Town Center, to the Tech Center. The city hopes to break ground on the project by the end of 2019.
