We we sent Jeff to do a video about the flooring quagmire in the shipping container house and after hours of editing out stupid Family Guy references we are seriously never using that word around him again…
We are about 45 days from completion on our first shipping container home, but there are some challenges with the flooring. Built by ModEco Development, these homes feature lightly used shipping containers that are “upcycled” to become a structural element in a new, environmentally friendly, completely state-of-the-art home. With conventional stick-framing surrounding/connecting the containers, the finished product is a traditional home with a very contemporary look. When it comes to the flooring, one of the more popular options made available in these homes is grinding down the base of the shipping container and adding an epoxy coating over it, giving the home a very unique and appealing flooring aesthetic. However, the transition from this to traditional hardwood in other sections of the home can present challenges. Check out the video above for additional info/insight and some before & after pics; if you’re interested in learning more, let’s chat!
