A conceptual plan has been put forth for the former site of Joe Louis Arena, and if approved, it would be the tallest residential development to be built downtown in more than 30 years. The developer, Sterling Group, is proposing a 25-story 500 unit apartment tower that would include a mix of one-bedrooms and studios, as well as penthouse units. Of course, we would have preferred for-sale condos to be part of the project, but since the original plans called for a 300-room hotel, we guess this is progress. If you’ve been searching for new construction in the Novi/Northville area, you’ve probably been surprised how few options are out there for single family homes; other than a few on-your-lot options, there are only a couple of neighborhoods with offerings under $1M.
