Who wants an update on Northland? Anyone? [crickets] Great! It appears the city has sold the parcel (pending a smidgen of due diligence), with Bloomfield Hills developer Contour Companies paying $11.1M for the massive 97-acre site. The initial phase of the development would cover a 45-acre chunk of the parcel with more than 1,500 housing units, spread across 14 new five-story buildings, plus the old mall’s ground-level retail spaces where about 250 lofts would be constructed. Keeping with our theme of long-abandoned parcels, the vacant land at Woodward & Stimson in Midtown has actually seen shovels hit dirt, as the Woodward West development has finally broken ground.
