Of course, this is not fine, and any agent who tells you otherwise is… probably not fine. Fortunately, most builders have responded responsibly and many were quick to shut down their sales offices ahead of the shelter in place (kudos to Lombardo, who went appointment-only about a week prior), helping to ensure we do our part to get past this and back to real estating/new home constructing ASAP.
In the meantime, some options:
1) Browse online; let us send you listings, links, info, pictures, words… anything and everything possible that allows you to do research from the comfort of your (current) home. Once the shelter in place is lifted, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running or maybe just walk at a relative pace but you get what we mean.
2) If you need something immediate and can’t wait, might we suggest a builder spec home? Resale transactions are still happening, but you can’t get an inspector out and if you need to do work on the house, good luck getting that started anytime soon. With a move-in ready spec home, there is no work to be done and it has already been inspected by the city or township. We can help you find your new home, guide you through the virtual-closing process, and then stick around to help with the warranty. As we do.
