FERNDALE UPDATE

March 22, 2017

As development continues to flourish in Ferndale, here is our latest update on the residential projects underway or pending approval:

Ferndale City Council voted in favor of selling two parcels on the west side of Livernois (just north of 8 Mile), to Nextus Capital – who will turn those and other assembled parcels into a new three-story residential development (pictured at top of page). While the 30 proposed units will be rentals, they would bring another significant anchor to the neighborhoods north of 8 mile, which would compliment the 90 townhomes Roberston Brothers has planned a couple blocks to the east (pictured above). With 9 Mile quickly filling up west of Woodward, the Livernois corridor is where many see the Ferndale revival heading and these two projects will make an impressive foundation on the south end of the corridor.

Meanwhile on the other side of Ferndale (east of Woodward, south of 9 Mile), a spokesperson from Robertson Brothers shared some plans with neighbors for the homes they plan to build at the former Wilson/USH site. It’s expected that the Franklin, the Lafayette and the Princeton plans will be offered in the development (pictured above), featuring 28 single-family homes expected to start in the $200s.

Beyond the developments above, there are also plans for the as-of-yet unnamed lofts on the north side of 9 Mile, east of Woodward across from the Lofts On 9, and the Ferndale Haus Lofts, under development on the north side of 9 Mile just west of Woodward. I think we can agree, all of this new residential activity will ensure that Ferndale stays… (wait for it)… FABULOUS! for the foreseeable future.
