LOWER TOWN, ANN ARBOR

February 22, 2017

The long-vacant parcel just east of Downtown Ann Arbor, near Broadway & Maiden Lane, may finally see new development. The same developers behind Liberty Lofts have plans for the former Kroger site, including a mix of residential and retail. The initial plans for Lower Town call for three buildings ranging from one to seven stories, featuring both apartments and condos.

Spread over three phases, 286 apartments would be build in the first phase, followed by 70 condos in the second and an additional 250 apartments in the third.  All of the previous buildings on the 6.4 acre site were demolished back in 2009, to make room for the Broadway Village project, which never came to be.  The current plan is still early in development, so changes and revisions are expected should this project get far enough for shovels and dirt to meet.
