As we roll through February, and spring (hopefully/mercifully) approaches, we thought now would be a wonderful time to offer a gentle reminder that if you’re thinking about building a home and would like to be in by the end of the year, now is the time to start.

A production home typically takes 8-10 months to build; so if spending the holiday’s in your new home is the goal – let’s get started.

A custom home, like the beauty pictured above by our friends at Mark Adler Homes, will take a little longer; so if a Lions Super Bowl party in your new home is the goal – let’s get started.

IN OTHER RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION NEWS…

FEBRUARY 2025 NEIGHBORHOOD UPDATES

Starkweather by Lombardo opened over the weekend in Plymouth, offering new homes a short walk from dining and retail, from the $600s. Profiled in our 2025 New Home Preview, this neighborhood (pictured above) will be the first to feature the new City Homes plans from Lombardo.

The remainder of the popular “Promenade” lots in the Robertson Brothers Hillside Townes neighborhood in Downtown Farmington have now been released. Overlooking the promenade, and with views of Shiawassee Park, sales at this project remain brisk.

Toll Brothers has released pricing for Geddes Vista, a new neighborhood coming soon to Ann Arbor. Featuring a mix of products, the townhomes are expected to start in the upper $500s, and the single-family homes in the upper $700s.

DOWNTOWN | GRAND RAPIDS

From the time the Ford family took over the Michigan Central Station and the restoration was announced, there have been rumors that a residential component to the project was being considered for the top two floors of the building.

Sadly, it appears that will not be the case; in a recent interview with CBS News Detroit, Bill Ford Jr., said the top two floors would be used as hotel space.

An official announcement hasn’t been made yet, but Ford Jr. anticipated an announcement soon.

We remain disappointed.

Hotels are lovely but imagine living with the views of the skyline from the MCS. Sure, the Hudson’s Tower will offer some pretty amazing views as well, but it’s IN the skyline.

The MCS is far enough away that you can see everything downtown. Kinda like the way you can see the whole skyline from Windsor, but without actually having to live in Windsor.
