TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH

July 10, 2020

We, at the New Home Experts, are proud to announce our affiliation with Michele Ciancimino, a health and wellness coach and owner of Goodness Girl.

Michele and I first met when I helped her and her family purchase a brand new home in Summerlin!  Michele has always been a great source of health and wellness information and inspiration for me personally, and I am so excited to share her health tips with all of you!
Enjoy!

It’s no surprise that a topic dominating all of our minds right now is health.  There is so much uncertainty and so much new information to sort through, it’s difficult to figure out the best way to keep healthy and safe as we attempt to resume our normal lives.

  • Do I need to wear a mask whenever I leave the house?
  • How many people can I be in a room with at one time?
  • Do I have to wear gloves to the grocery store?
  • How often should I be washing my hands?
  • How high is my risk of infection?

These are all valid questions and concerns and it’s important to stay informed and take recommended precautions to stay healthy, but beyond that, your health starts with YOU! Here are some ways you can protect yourself:

Sleep!

Getting enough sleep at night is extremely important to repair and regenerate the body, and lack thereof can impair your body’s ability to fight off infection.  Aim for AT LEAST seven hours a night and create your own nighttime ritual to give your body and mind the proper queues to decompress and get the optimal amount of rest.

Diet

The old adage, “you are what you eat,” is as true today as ever!

If you put milk in your gas tank, your car wouldn’t run very well, would it?  Likewise, if you put heavily processed foods into your body, your body won’t run very well either.

Eating a diet of real food rich in nutrients is the best fuel for your body.

Did you know that eating 100 grams of sugar (equal to the amount you would get from drinking a 1-liter bottle of soda) decreases the activity of your white blood cells by 40%?

These cells are vital to helping fight off viral, bacterial and other invaders, so consider the amount of sugar you are consuming daily and make a conscious choice to cut back.

Supplements

Even if you feel like you eat well and get enough rest, supplementing with a high-quality multivitamin along with other antioxidants and phytonutrients will go a long way to protecting you from illness!

Minerals like zinc are important to immune function as are omega 3fatty acids (meaning a high-quality fish oil) and herbs like turmeric. You can make a choice to uplevel your health by taking the best supplements available.

Exercise

We all know we should exercise, but it is a commitment that should be added to your calendar like every other appointment and must be kept.

Exercise helps move those all-important white blood cells around your body so they can do a better job of protecting you. In addition, exercise helps relieve stress, helps you sleep better, and improves your mood.

I will be sharing more helpful health and wellness news through my affiliation with The New Home Experts!
